So we started with the people who decorate small spaces for a living. Four safety habits for a condo Christmas

Buy certified lights

For anything that plugs into the wall (Christmas lights, LED parols), look for the PS mark (locally made) or ICC sticker (imported). DTI's Bureau of Philippine Standards says covered products must carry one before they are sold, and you can check ICC stickers with the ICC Verification Mobile App. Before checking out online, ask the seller for a photo of the mark or sticker on the actual product or box.

No 'octopus' connections, and unplug before bed

Even if your unit has only a few outlets, don't stack extension cords and adapters into one socket. Meralco's holiday reminders say to avoid octopus connections and to switch off and unplug Christmas lights and lanterns before going to bed or leaving home.
